第218讲 英语表示一段时间的时候，介词for 省略，有人说错，你说呢？
1】
我们很熟悉这样的句子：
I have been in the town for three years
I have been working here for ten months
I have worked in the country for half a century
The meeting lasted for one week.
那么，这个for可以省去吗？
就是说，写成：
I have been in the town three years
I have been working here ten months
I have worked in the country half a century
The meeting lasted one week.
对吗？
其实上面的句子都是正确的。
2】
我们还有两个很常用的短语，就是没有介词的
Wait a minute 等一会，如果说，Wait for a minute 反而感到啰嗦了。
I sit there for all day. 显得啰嗦，我们常说：
I sit there all day.
for+all+时间，for省略
3】
但是，不是任何时候，这个for都是可以省去的。
如果for +时间修饰的是 动态动词或者是否定句，那么，for 是不可以省去的。
比如：
I haven’t met him for a year
meet 是动态动词，而且本句是否定句，for 不可以省去。
同样的动词还有 see， hear，find等。
4】 for+时间短语放在句首，不能省略
He stayed in the city [for] eleven years.
For eleven years, he stayed in the city.
Eleven years, he stayed in the city.错
